The transparent colour finishing accentuates the texture of the sturdy Japanese oak wood, offered in the CASTOR colours; pure oak, grain grey and black, plus in a specially developed new moss green. CASTOR | CHAIR PAD Everyday Icon - upholstered CASTOR CHAIR PAD is the upholstered version of the awarded CASTOR CHAIR and member of the CASTOR product series.¬ Slim, yet soft cushioned pads are applied to seat and backrest for additional seating comfort. The simple form of CASTOR BENCH is inspired by a traditional Japanese four-legged wooden outdoor bench, or endai, CASTOR BENCH combines well with CASTOR SHELF, as the bench turns into a shelf as soon as it aligned with CASTOR SHELF. Solid Surface that Appears as Individual Laths The top of the bench, also usable as a shelf, resembles a Japanese duckboard or sunoko. It looks like the surface is made of individual laths, but in fact it is a solid board made of multiple strips of wood that are elaborately glued together to achieve a large surface with great strength. CASTOR | SHELF Carved Legs This minimalistic shelf is part of the CASTOR series, whose items share the same design vocabulary and characteristic details. The compact size of CASTOR SHELF makes it an ideal item for entrances or hallways, but it also makes an original sideboard in the living room. CASTOR SHELF can be extended and complemented with CASTOR BENCH, as it turns into a shelf as soon as it is aligned with CASTOR SHELF. The maximum load on the shelves is 30kg (15kg each). CASTOR | LOW TABLE While the Castor Low Tables are conceived as companions to the Castor Sofa and Castor Low Chair, their simple but well thought design based on the design of the Castor Table, make them versatile low- and side tables for various interiors and applications. The tables come in two sizes and heights, and are made entirely of solid Japanese oak wood. CASTOR | SOFA The design of the Castor Sofa, part of the Castor family, respectfully refers to Le Corbusier’s legendary Grand Comfort sofa and combines the elegance functionality with the highest seating comfort. It draws on Karimoku’s exceptional know-how in wood working as well as in upholstery: a structure of elaborately joined Japanese oak wood holds soft but supporting cushions upholstered with high-quality foams and natural feathers. All parts are carefully crafted into every detail, making the Castor Sofa look as good from the back as from the front, which makes the sofa also a perfect room divider. The compact ottoman completes the 2-seater and 1-seater, adding additional comfort as a footrest, or as a supplementary sitting accommodation.
